Settings Reference

Every setting in TextSetu, grouped by where it lives, with what it does, its default, and what happens when you change it. Settings pages are organized into cards; toggles in most cards save automatically, and turning one off asks you to confirm because some changes are destructive.

Project settings

Open a project → More → Settings.

General

Edit these fields and press Save.

Setting	What it does
Name	The project’s display name, shown across the dashboard and project lists.
Description	Optional summary to help your team understand the project.
Key separator	The character used to render keys as a nested tree (default `.`), e.g. `home.cta.title`. Display/organization aid only — it doesn’t change your keys.

Translation Workflow

Auto-saving toggles.

Setting	What it does	Default
Approval required	Turns on the approval workflow: edits by non-approvers are saved as proposals (pending review) instead of publishing. Turning it off publishes everything directly and discards any in-progress proposals (they’re finalized as approved).	Off
Enable QA checks	Runs structural quality checks while editing — flags HTML-tag, number/placeholder, and whitespace mismatches against the source. Turning it off stops those warnings.	On

Translation Assistance

Shown only when the organization has Translation Memory / Glossary enabled. Auto-saving toggles.

Setting	What it does
Use Translation Memory	Suggests previously translated strings from the org’s translation memory while translating. Off = no TM suggestions in this project.
Use Glossary	Suggests approved glossary terms (and runs glossary QA) while translating. Off = no glossary suggestions/checks in this project.

Branching

Auto-saving toggles. See Branches.

Setting	What it does	Default
Enable branching	Allows creating branches — isolated copies of the translations you edit and later merge into main. Turning it on reveals the Branches tab. Turning it off permanently deletes ALL branches and their changes (confirmation required).	Off
Protect main branch	Blocks direct edits to the main line — every change must go through a branch and a merge. Use it to guarantee nothing lands on main without review. Off = anyone with edit rights can edit main directly. Only applies while branching is on.	Off
Require approval for merge	Only approvers may merge a branch into main, adding a review gate to the merge itself (separate from per-value approval). Off = anyone who can merge may merge without sign-off. Only applies while branching is on.	Off

Danger Zone

Delete Project — permanently deletes the project and all its keys, values, languages, branches, and history. You must type the project name to confirm.

Glossary settings

Open a glossary → More → Settings.

General

Edit and press Save: Name and Description.

QA Checks

Each check has a severity you pick — Off, Warning (highlights the cell), or Error (blocks saving). Auto-saves on change; switching to Off warns first. See Quality Checks.

Setting	What it does
Term consistency	Flags when the source contains a glossary term but the translation doesn’t use the approved translation of that term.
Forbidden terms	Flags when a translation uses a term marked forbidden, and points to the preferred alternative.

Workflow

Translation Memory settings

Open a translation memory → More → Settings.

General

Edit and press Save: Name and Description.

Matching

Controls how stored entries are matched and suggested. Has its own Save button. See Translation Memory.

Setting	What it does
Source language	The language TM entries are written in (must be one of the TM’s languages). Changing it to another existing language prompts whether to also move entry data to follow the new source (“rebase”).
Minimum match threshold	Fuzzy matches scoring below this percentage (40–100%) are not suggested. Higher = fewer, closer matches. Default 75%.
Match penalties	Points deducted from a match score when the source differs only by Case, Whitespace, or Punctuation (0 = no penalty). Tune how strict near-matches are.

Organization settings

Open Settings from the org area (owners/admins).

General

Setting	What it does
Name	The organization’s display name (shown in the org switcher).
Logo	An image shown in the org switcher and settings.

Predefined Tags

Org-wide tags suggested when tagging translation keys, so tagging stays consistent across projects. Projects can add their own tags on top.

Custom Languages

Define languages that aren’t in the built-in list (owner only) with a code (2–10 chars) and a display name. They appear in every language picker across the org and all share one standard icon.

Translation Memory

Setting	What it does
Enable Translation Memory	Makes translation memories available to every project in the org. On by default for new orgs. Turning it off permanently deletes ALL translation memories and their data — it runs a danger-style confirmation where you type the org name, exactly like deleting the org.

Glossary

Setting	What it does
Enable Glossary	Makes glossaries available to every project in the org. On by default for new orgs. Turning it off permanently deletes ALL glossaries and their data — danger-style confirmation (type the org name), like deleting the org.

Danger Zone

Delete Organization — permanently deletes the org and everything in it (projects, glossaries, TMs, members). Owner only; type the org name to confirm.
